Composite Insulation

Insulation parts are important tools for the systems containing electricity and the human hand. Operators must be careful of electricity leaks and conductivity in the industries. To prevent people from risks and disasters materials must be chosen carefully to work safely.

Insulation Materials

Conductivity depends on the material properties and relations with it. In such an industry, special materials with high electrical conductivity used as isolation parts.

Metallic parts such as steel and aluminum can not be used directly in electrical systems because of the high conductive properties. Therefore, they are isolated with a low conductive material to prevent reaction with electricity. Materials or parts used for isolation called “isolators”. Some metals and other system parts can be coated with dielectric materials to acquire practical solutions.

Isolators affect the system with low conductive behavior and thus prevent risks. In addition to the coating, isolation can be provided with the whole part.

Composite Isolation

Composite materials exhibit superior performance for isolation when used properly. Glass fiber commonly used for both electrical and heat isolation purposes in many industries. Material conductivity behavior offers reliable isolation even in extreme conditions.

Glass and carbon fiber can be used as heat, electricity, and voice isolators depending on the application. Isolator booms are one of the most known isolators in the industry that used as telescopic booms.

Filament Wound Insulation

Popular isolators are used as insulator booms on aerial devices which work in different applications such as telecommunication, electric utility, cable maintenance, construction.

Considering the geometrical shape, filament winding becomes an ideal solution for the manufacturing isolator booms with composite material. Isolator booms generally have cylindrical or rectangular cross-sections, therefore it allows using filament winding easily. With the filament winding, composite isolator booms can acquire;

- High strength, can use a different application

- Low weight, reduced fuel consumption of aerial devices

- Non-conductivity, increased safety for both system and operator
